Day 1: Colombo, Sri Lanka
Arrive into Colombo, Sri Lanka. Meet your driver-guide at the Colombo airport and then proceed to your hotel located in Negombo. You may relax at the hotel or explore the Negombo town with your driver-guide.
Day 2: Anuradhapura
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Anuradhapura. The city lies 205km north of the current capital Colombo in Sri Lanka’s North Central Province, on the banks of the historic Malvathu Oya. Anuradhapura is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved ruins of ancient Sri Lankan civilization. The city, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was the center of Theravada Buddhism for many centuries. During the sightseeing tour of Anuradhapura you will visit a selection of the most remarkable sights.
Days 3 & 4: Jaffna
From Anuradhapura you will head to Jaffna the capital city of the Northern Province of Sri Lanka to stay 02 overnights. Historically, Jaffna has been a contested city. It was made into a colonial port town during the Portuguese occupation of the Jaffna peninsula in 1619. It changed hands to the Dutch colonials, who lost it to the British in 1796. While sightseeing around Jaffna city you may visit Jaffna Public Library, Nallur Kandaswamy temple, Jaffna Fort and the Jaffna-Pannai-Kayts highway.
Days 5 & 6: Trincomalee
Move from Jaffna to 113 miles south to reach the Trincomalee located on the east-coast of Sri Lanka. Trincomalee is one of the oldest cities in Asia and it has served as a major maritime seaport in the international trading history of the Sri Lanka with South East Asia. Trincomalee has some of the most picturesque and scenic beaches found in Sri Lanka, relatively unspoilt and clean for bathing and swimming. While your stay of 2 overnights in Trincomalee visit the Hindu historical site of the Koneswaram temple, The Dutch Fort and Harbour.
Days 7 & 8: Kandy
Your visit to Sri Lanka is not complete without a visit the World Heritage listed Sacred City of Kandy. The Kingdom of Kandy was established in the 14th century, becoming the country’s capital city in the 16th century. Spend 2 days at Kandy while exploring the Temple Of the Sacred Tooth Relic, cultural dance show and other attractions in the town.
Days 9 & 10: Tea Country
Take the train through the tea covered hills to the Hatton and your chauffeur-guide will transfer the luggage by road. Your time is here free to explore the town locally.
You may climb the Adam’s Peak. The annual pilgrimage to worship at the summit temple is from December to May, but climbing can be done at other times of the year too. Adam’s Peak rises to 2250 meters and has roughly 5000 steps to the top. A most rewarding experience is the spectacular sunrise, which should not to be missed.
Day 11: Colombo
Leave this morning to Colombo. Spend the afternoon exploring the capital city of Colombo.
Day 12: Depart from Sri Lanka
You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the airport for your return flight home.
